Versailles Republican
SHOOK, Martha Yater, daughter of Abraham and Martha "Patsey" Rea Yater was 
born on a farm near Versailles on 26 Aug. 1839. She joined the M.E. Church. 
She married James Shook on 22 Aug. 1853 and they had seven children. One child 
preceeded her in death. James Shook died three years ago. Martha Yater Shook 
was 87 years, 9 mos., 1 day old. Survivors: Alfred Shook of Veedersburg, Mrs. 
T. M. Benton of Osgood, Robert Shook of Lafayette and Miss Edna Shook of 
Pasadena, California.
