Versailles Republican
YATER, Abraham, Jr., born near Holton on 1 Dec. 1836; married Alecina M. 
Harding on 2 May 1860. Two daughters, Laura, wife of Will Smith of Elwood, IN 
and Ella, wife of P. A. Row of Osgood. Died 20 Dec. 1903 of pneumonia. 
Survivors:  wife, 2 daughters, 6 sisters, 3 brothers and 7 grandchildren. 
During the Civil War, Abraham was the first man to open stone quarry in Ripley 
County, Indiana.
