Rush Co. Marriage Book 11, p. 114
J. M. Longfellow to Susannah Dougherty} BE IT REMEMBERED, That On this 29 day 
of August, A.D. 1877 the following Marriage License was issued, to wit:  
INDIANA, TO WIT: RUSH COUNTY, SS:  TO ALL WHO SHALL SEE THESE PRESENTS, 
GREETING:  KNOW YE, That any person empowered by law to solemnize marriages, 
is hereby authorized to join together as Husband and Wife, John M. Longfellow 
and Susannah Daugherty and for so doing this shall be his sufficient authority.

IN TESTIMONY WHEREOF, I Jatson M. Smith, Clerk of the Delaware Circuit Court, 
hereunto subscribe my name and affix the seal of said Court, at Rushville this 
29th day of August 1877.  Signed: J. W. Smith, Clerk

BE IT FURTHER REMEMBERED, That afterwards, towit: On the 7th day of Sept 1877, 
the following Certificate of Marriage was filed in my office, to-wit:
INDIANA, TO-WIT: RUSH COUNTY,SS:
THIS CERTIFIES, THAT I joined in Marriage as Husband and Wife, John G. 
Longfellow and Susannah Dougherty on the 29th day of August 1877.
