The Chronicle, Scottsburg, Scott County, Indiana, published Thursday 21 May 1908
Nail Causes Lockjaw and Death.

            A three year old child of Clarence Calloway, of Deputy, stepped on 
a nail and ran it into its foot. Lockjaw developed and caused the child’s 
death. The remains were interred at the Coffee Creek cemetery, in Jennings 
county, Tuesday.
