Scott County Indiana pension General Affidavit State of Indiana, County of Scott, SS: In the matter of Pension Claim No. 20814, of Ethelina Belch widow of Nicholas S. Belch, late of Co. D, 81" Regt., Ind. Inft. Vols. On this 7" day of November, A.D. 1906, personally appeared before me, a notary public, in and for the County and State aforesaid, duly authorized to administer oaths Ethelina Belch aged 64 years whose residence is Scottsburg County of Scott, and State of Indiana Well known to be reputable and entitled to credit, and who, being duly sworn, declares in relation to the aforesaid case, as follows: That she is the claimant herein and widow of Nicholas S. Belch. That said Belch was married to Margaret J. Coatney in the month of January 1858, eighteen years prior to his marriage to her. That said Belch's former wife, Margaret J. Coatney died in June 1875. That the said Belch was not married prior to his marriage with the claimant except as above stated to Margaret J. Coatney. Inft. Vols. On this 22" day of November, A. D. 1906 personally appeared before me, a Notary Public, in and for the County and State aforesaid, duly authorized to administer oaths Marion S. Grapevine aged 42 years, whose residence is Scottsburg, County of Scott, and State of Indiana well known to be reputable and entitled to credit, and who, being duly sworn, declares in relation aforesaid case, as follows: That he is well aquainted with Ethelina Belch, the claimant herein and was also with her husband, Nicholas S. Belch, now deceased. He also knows that the claimant and deceased soldier, Nicholas S. Belch, lived together as man and wife until said Belch's death, and that they were never divorced. Affiant further states that he knew said Belch's first wife, who he understood was Margaret J. Coatney, before her marriage to said Belch, and he knows that she died on or about June 12, 1875. His knowledge of above facts is derived from living near neighbor to all parties concerned. I further declare that I have no interest in the case and am not concerned with its prosecution. D. 1906, personally appeared before me, a Notary Public, in and for the County and State aforesaid, duly authorized to administer oaths Reason Belch, aged 50 years, whose residence is Austin County of Scott, and State of Indiana well known to be reputable and entitled to credit, and who, being duly sworn, declares in relation to the aforesaid case, as follows: That he was a brother of Nicholas S. Belch and knows that the claimant was married to Nicholas S. Belch in the year 1876, and that the claimant lived with said Belch (they living together as husband and wife) from the date of their marriage until the death of said Nicholas S. Belch in April 1906. Affiant further states that he has no interest direct or indirect in the prosecution of this claim. I further declare that I have no interest in this case and am not concerned in its prosecution. D. 1906, personally appeared before me, a Notary Public, in and for the Couny and State aforesaid, dult authorized to administer oaths Joseph Hepworth aged 69 years whose residence is Scottsburg County of Scott, and State of Indiana well known to be reputable and entitled to credit, and who, being duly sworn, declares in relation to aforesaid case, as follows: That he has known Nicholas S. Belch since the year 1854 and knows that the claimant was married to Nicholas S. Belch in the year 1876 and that claimant lived with said Nicholas S. Belch (they living together as husband and wife) from the date of their marriage until the death od said Nicholas S. Belch in April 1906. Affiant says that he knows these facts from his long aqaintance with claimant and deceased soldier having resided near neighbors to them. Affiant further states that he has no interest direct or indirect in the prosecution of this claim. I further declare that I have no interest in the case and am not concerned with its prosecution.
