Scott Co, IN Civil War Pension From the National Archives, Washington, DC: ACT OF MAY 11, 1912. AMENDED BY ACT OF JUNE 10, 1918. DECLARATION FOR PENSION. THE PENSION CERTIFICATE SHOULD NOT BE FORWARDED WITH THE APPLICATION. STATE of South Dakota, County of Custer, SS: On this 29th day of April, A. D. 1919, personally appeared before me, a Notary Public within and for the county and State aforesaid, William P. Collings who, being by me duly sworn according to law, declares that he is 76 years of age; that he was born on March 26, 1843, at Clark County, Indiana; that he is a resident of Hermosa county of Custer, State of South Dakota; and that he is the identical person who was enlisted in the service of the United States at New Albany, Ind., under the name of William P. Collings, on the 19th day of Aug., 1862, as a musician in Co. K, 66th Regiment, Indiana Volunteer Infantry and was discharged Febr. 18th, 1863, at Cairo, Ill.  That he also served . . . That he was not in the military or naval service of the United States otherwise than as stated above.  That his personal description at time of first enlistment was as follows: height, 5 feet,9 inches; complexion, medium; color of eyes, blue; color of hair, dark; that his occupation was Farmer. That since leaving the service he has resided at Scott Co, Ind 1863-1864, Bartholomew Co, Ind 1864-1904; Custer County, S. Dak. 1904 to 1919 and his occupation has been . . . That he has . . . applied for pension under Original No. - - -.  That he is . . . a pensioner under Certificate No. 198142.  That he makes this declaration for the purpose of being placed on the pension roll of the United States under the provisions of the act of May 11, 1912, as amended by the act of June 10, 1918.
