DECLARATION FOR WIDOW'S ARMY PENSION. (Page 1) State of Indiana, County of Scott, SS. On this fourteenth day of January A. D. one thousand eight hundred and sixty four personally appeared before me Jessamine G W Traylor Clerk of the Circuit Court within and for the County and State of aforesaid Elizabeth Sparks a resident of Jennings Township in the County of Scott and State of Indiana aged twenty nine years,who being first duly sworn according to law, doth, on her oath, make the following declaration,in order to obtain the benefit of the provisions made by the act of Congress, approved July 14, 1862. That she is the widow of William R. Sparks who enlisted in the service of United States at Scott County in the State of Indiana on or about the  first day of August 1862 as a Private in Company K commanded by Captain Abraham H. Campbell in the Sixty Sixth Regiment of Indiana Volunteers in the War of 1861; who while in the service aforesaid and in the line of his duty died of lung fever at Colliersville in the State of Tennessee on the ninth day of October A. D. 1863. She further declares that she was married to the said William R. Sparks on the third day of March in the year 1853 that her name before her said marriage was Elizabeth Williams that her husband, the aforesaid William R. Sparks died on the day above-mentioned, and that she has remained a widow ever since that period, as will more fully appear appear by reference to the proof hereto annexed; that the names and ages of her children under sixteen years of age, at her husband's decease, and the place of their residence is as follows: Melvina Sparks aged eight years Henry Sparks aged six years William Sparks aged five years Elizabeth Sparks aged two years James Sparks aged four years That they all reside with me in Jennings Township Scott County and State of Indiana. --------------------------------------------------------------------- USGENWEB NOTICE: These electronic pages may NOT be reproduced in any format for profit or presentation by other organization or persons.
