Nicholas Skeel's pension Department of the Interior Pension Office March 25, 1869 Sir, In the case of Nicholas J. Skeel 139.384, late Priv. Co. B, 93 Regiment Ind. Vols., it is respectfully requested that you furnish this Office whatever evidence the rolls of said Regiment may afford as to the applicant's service, disability, and discharge. March 30, 1869 Sir: I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt from your Office of application for Pension No. 139.384, and to return it herewith with such information as is furnished by the files of this office. It appears from the Rolls on file in this Office that Nicholas J. Skeel was enrolled on the 19 day of Aug., 1862, at Scott Co. in Co. B, 93 Regiment of Ind Volunteers, to serve 3 years, or during the war, and mustered into service as a Pvt. on the 30 day of Sept. 1862, at New Albany in Co. B, 93 Regiment of Ind. Volunteers to serve 3 years, or during the war. On the Muster Roll of Co. B of that Regiment, for the months of March & April 1863, he is reported "Absent sick in Overton Hosp. Memphis, Tenn Feb.1.1865. Never joined Co. subsequent to April 63 - No evidence of discharge on file - Further evidence will be obtained if practicable and forwarded to Com. of Pens. He is also borne on rolls as Nicolas J. Skeel. Your Obedient Servant Sam. Preck Assistant Adjutant General Examining Surgeon's Certificate Salem Ind. April 2, 1869 I hereby certify that I have carefully examined Nicholas J. Skeel, late a Private in Co. B, 93d Regt. Ind. Vols. in the seervice of the United States, who was discharged at Benton Barracks, Tn. on the 28th day of June 1865, and is an applicant for an invalid pension by reason of alleged disability resulting from G.S. Wound of Right Hand. In my opinion the said Nicholas J. Skeel is one-fourth incapacitated fro obtaining is susistance by manuel labor for the cause above stated. Judging from his present condition, and from the evidence before me, it is my belief that the said disability was contracted in the service aforesaid in the line of duty. The disibility is permanant. A more particular description of the applicant's condition is subjoined: The ball has passed through the index and third fingers, taking off 2nd and 3rd phalanges of the index finger & rendering the third finger useleƒs. It appears from the Rolls on file in this Office that Nicholas J. Skeel was enrolled on the 19" day of Aug 1862 at Scott Co. Ind in Co. B 93 Regiment if Ind Volunteers, to serve 3 years or during the war, and mustered into service as a Privateon the 30 day of Sept. 1862 at New Albany, Ind, in Co. B 93 Regiment of Ind. Volunteers to serve 3 years or during the war. On the Muster "Out" Rolls of Co. B of that Regiment dated Aug 10" 1865, he is reported "transferred to 15 Compy 2nd Battalion, VR Corps." Det. M. O. Roll of 15 Co, 2nd Batt. VR. C. dated Benton Bks, Mo, June 28, 65 reports him "Pvt. M. O.June 28, '65 by G. O. 116 A.G.O. June 17, '65." I am sir, very respectfully, Your obedient servant, Sam.
