Shelby County Indiana GEORGE BAKER AND ELIZA HOLLIS MARRIAGE pg. 465 Be it remembered that on the Twenty-first day of August Eighteen hundred and Thirty Eight a marriage License was issued out of the office of the Clerk of the Shelby Circuit Court in the words following to wit Indiana to wit Shelby County, The State of Indiana to any person legally empowered to solemnize marriages in Shelby County Greeting. You are hereby authorized to join the holy bands of matrimony George Baker and Elizabeth Hollis of Shelby County, according to the laws of the State of Indiana, and of this make due return. Given under my hand and seal of office as Clerk of the Shelby Circuit Court, at Shelbyville this 21st day of August A D 1838. Sylvan B. Morris, Clerk And afterwards to wit on the twenty fifth day August aforesaid the said license was filed in the office of the Clerk aforesaid in the words following to wit State of Indiana Shelby County ss I Amos Sparks a minister of the Gospel of The Methodist Episcopal Church do certify that the above married George Baker and Eliza Hollis were lawfully joined in marriage by me on the twenty third day of August A D one thousand Eight hundred and thirty eight.
