PLETCHER, aged 20, of Wakarusa, have been married in Elkhart County. The bride has a suit pending in St Joseph County court against Cyrus EBY for slander, in which he is charged with injuriously attacking her character and making untrue allegations concerning herself and her present husband. The couple are both well known in this city, having been former residents. Following the ceremony, a reception was held and a six o'clock dinner was served. Mr. & Mrs. WISE will reside for the present with the bride's mother. 11/22/1912 - Page 1 - BIRTHS - A daughter arrived Saturday night at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey PLETCHER, 618 East Lawrence Street. 08/08/1913 - Page 1 - DEATH FROM CARBOLIC ACID - Mrs. Cornelius PLETCHER, aged 26 years, Cleveland Twp., Elkhart Co., six miles northeast of Mishawaka, was found dead at her home Monday afternoon, shortly after she swallowed part of the contents of an ounce bottle of carbolic acid. Coroner Mast of Elkhart, leans toward the accidental death theory. The deceased was the sister of Fred and Charles McKIM of this city. 01/23/1914 - Page 1 - BIRTHS - A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. A. They will make their home in this city. 03/30/1917 - Page 1 - A SUNDAY CHURCH WEDDING - Miss Carrie S. CROSBY, formerly the capable and popular city librarian, was married Sunday to Loit Allyn PLETCHER, of Saskatchewan, Canada, in the First Methodist Memorial Church, it being the first Sunday wedding in the new home of worship. The marriage was a surprise to the friends of the bride. After the morning service the pastor asked the congregation to remain seated as he was a bout to perform a most pleasant task. Mrs. G. B. WILLIAMS, organist, played "A Wild Rose" as the participants in the ceremony walked down the aisle to the front of the pulpit where they were received by the officiating clergyman. The double ring service was used. At its close a quartet sang the benediction and as the newlyweds left the church the organist played Mendelahon's Wedding March. They were unaccompanied. PLETCHER, Company A 139 Machine gun battalion, Camp Shelby, Hattiesburg, Miss. and Miss Alpha M Balsley, of Mishawaka were married at the Methodist parsonage, by Rev. B. Earle Parker. Private PLETCHER came back on a furlough two days prior to the wedding, which had been kept a profound secret from the bride's friends. The bride is a well-known and popular young lady, employed as stenographer by City Attorney R. H. Jernegan and The Enterprise office. She is the daughter of Mrs. Albert BALSLEY of Lakeville. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John PLETCHER, 236 Hickory Street, Elkhart. PLETCHER, who has spent considerable time overseas, is now on a transport bound for the U.S. Funeral services will be held at Elkhart Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the evangelical church. Dean L. A. Moench officiating. Burial in St. Joseph Cemetery. The body was brought here from Bremen where it had been previously shipped. Mr. PLETCHER was 85 years old.
