  BRIGGS, JOHN C., Ex-Judge of the Circuit Court, now practicing attorney,
Sullivan, Ind., was born Carlisle, Sullivan County, Ind., Sept. 2, 1811; served
four years in the civil war in 14th Indiana and 11th Cavalry, going in as
private, rising to non-commissioned officer, and at close of war was assistant
quartermaster of Spalding's Brigade of cavalry. Was once an associate partner in
the practice of law with the late Hon. Daniel Voorhees of Indiana.
