(1899) HOKE, J. F., president of the Farmers State Bank, is one of the most successful business men. Mr. Hoke was born in Sullivan County in 1839. He was reared on a farm; left the farm at the age of 20, served almost three years in the civil war, and in 1864 engaged in the hardware business. In this he was very successful. Even to this day he hits been in some wise interested in the hardware business. As a hanker he is no less capable of success than as a merchant. Additional Comments: Hamilton Twp.
