(1899) LANG, JAMES M. was elected county auditor in 1898. Mr. Lang was born in New York City, December 25, 1855, and was brought to Indiana by the Children's Aid Society in 1861. He was adopted by John Wesley Lang, who lived in Parke County. He came to Sullivan County in 1871. He has taught school, clerked in a clothing Store and in the Sullivan County Bank, and engaged in the clothing business in Sullivan. He is prominent in fraternal societies, a prominent democrat and a self-made man, deserving much praise for his success in life. Additional Comments: Hamilton Twp.
