  MAYFIELD, CHARLES C., sheriff of Sullivan County, was born in Jefferson
township, this county, Nov. 10, 1852; received a common school education and
from 1881 to 1890 was in the employ of the E. & T. H. R. R. Became town marshal
of Sullivan and in 1896 was elected sheriff of the county, to which office he
was re-elected in 1898.
