(1899) SCOTT, A. D., is assistant general manager of the Harder & Hafer Coal Mining Co., and the Hymera Coal Mining Co. The home offices are in Chicago. Mr. Scott came to Delcarbo in 1893 and took charge of the mines. The mine at Delcarbo is the largest in the county, having a daily output of a thousand tons, while the one at Alum Cave has an output of 600 tons per day. A good grain of bitumen coal for steam and domestic use is mined. Mr. Scott is an ex-railroad man. He was born in Brown County, Ohio, July 10, 1865, and came to Sullivan County in 1893.
