Indiana, Obituary, Koons From Vevay Reveille Paper dated 27 February 1908 GOOSE CREEK NEWS;  PATRIOT INDIANA: OBITUARY:    JACOB KOONS     Mr. Jacob Koons was born in Columbia County, Ohio, April 10, 1827.  He     departed this life at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Bailey, February     22, 1908, aged 80 yrs. 10 mo. and 12 days.  He was united in marriage     to Miss Prudence Durbin,(the obituary says Dearbourn), of Ohio County,     on July 1, 1847.  To them were born fourteen children, eight having     proceeded him to the Great Beyond.  Those still living are Jacob     Koons Jr., Mrs Bailey, Mrs. West, Mrs. Noble, Mrs. Slayback, and Mrs.     Couch.  These with his faithful wife, forty grand-children and a     goodly number of Great-grand-children , are left to mourn the loss of     a faithful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.  He     has been sorely afflicted with rheumatism for years at times suffering     great pain and at best scarcely able to move about an never without     the aid of two canes.  Lagrippe and pneumonia hastened his death.     He was a faithful member of the Baptist Church at Patriot and never     failed to attend a meeting as long as he could get to the church.     The funeral was conducted from the Patriot Baptist Church, Monday     afternoon and the body was laid to rest in the East View Cemetery.     Uncle Jake, as he was most familiarly known, will be missed by the     entire community and all extend their sympathy to the bereaved family.   NOTES:     Jacob was Jacob Anderson Koons, the son of Benjamin Koons of Pennsylvania     Mrs. Bailey was Missouri Ann (Koons) Bailey, wife of John Bailey.     Mrs. Slayback was Hester (Koons) Slayback, wife of William Slayback.     Mrs. Noble was Catherine (Koons) Noble, wife of Marion Noble.     Mrs. Couch was Ada "Addie" (Koons) Couch, wife of E.
