March 21, 1850
William H Layton & Elizabeth Creek 
     Be it remembered that on the Twenty first day of March, in the year of 
our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and fifty, a marriage license issued to 
William H. Layton and Elizabeth Creek both having the consent of their fathers 
in person, and both of the County of Tippecanoe in the State of Indiana: a 
certificate of whose marriage was returned and Return filed April 6, 1850 and 
reads as follows. towit: "The State of Indiana Tippecanoe County, so I hereby 
certify that on the 21st day of March A.D. 1850 I joined together William 
Layton and Elizabeth Creek in marriage according to the laws of the state of 
Indiana.  Given under my hand and seal on this 6th day of April A.D. 1850

Additional Comments:
William was born in Tippecanoe County on February 18, 1830 to John and Mary 
Russell Layton.
