AKERS, a farmer owning 120 acres in Cicero Township, Section 25, half of which is under cultivation, is a native of Owen County, Ky., and was born May 24, 1825. He was reared in his native county, and at the age of twenty-two went to Louisville, where he worked about five years. In 1850, he removed to Johnson County, Ind., and engaged in farming until 1864, when he came to Tipton County and located on his present tract of land. His land is fertile and productive, and he keeps a number of cattle and hogs. He raises sixty bushels of corn to the acre, and about twenty bushels of wheat. Mr. Akers was married in Johnson County, Ind., in the fall of 1850, to Miss Mary Ann Graham, a daughter of James Graham.
