After his arrival in this country, he resided in Lancaster County, Penn., one summer, and then in the State of Ohio until 1844, when he moved to Union County, Ind. Here he lived four years; he then removed to Tipton County and located in Cicero Township; he is the owner of a farm containing sixty-eight acres, four miles west of Tipton, under good cultivation; he also owns a fine residence on North West street, Tipton, which he occupies as his home; he has always followed the occupation of a farmer since his residence in this county, and has been very successful; he is a Democrat, and he is a consistent member of the Christian or Disciples' Church. Mr. Burkhart was married, February 22, 1838, in Butler County, Ohio, to Miss Sarah Bridges. The issue of their marriage consists of eight children, viz.: Enos L., Thomas W., Jane, Mary, Daniel B., Alonzo G., Maria and Sarah.
