HARMON, farmer, owning 120 acres of land in Cicero Township, with seventy acres under cultivation, is a native of Ripley County, Ind., and was born November 11, 1831. His father, Jacob Harmon, a native of North Carolina, resided most of his life in Bath County, Ky., and was a successful farmer of that county. He died in 1860, at the age of ninety-eight. The subject of this sketch spent his youth in Bath County, Ky., and at the age of nineteen came to Switzerland County, Ind., and was there married March 5, 1856, to Miss Mary C. Thatcher. He removed to Indianapolis, and later, located in Hamilton County, where he remained three years. He came to Tipton County in February, 1865, and located on his present tract of land, three acres of which had been cleared. He has opened a good farm of seventy acres, and turns his attention principally to raising wheat and corn. He has a fair amount of cattle and hogs.
