SHAW, carpenter, and former Superintendent of the County Farm, was born in Butler County, Ohio, September 7, 1839. When he was about five years old, his parents removed to Rush County, where Mr. Shaw spent his boyhood days. At the age of nineteen, he removed to Tipton County, and has since resided here. He served an apprenticeship at the carpenter's trade in Rush County, and has since followed this trade in connection with farming. He was married, July 13, 1859, in Tipton County, to Miss Mary E. Warner. They have a family of eight children-Sarah J., Polly D., James T., Temillis, Asher, Clarence, Maud Capitola and Osa. Mr. Shaw owns fifty-four acres of land in Cicero Township, thirty-four acres of which are under cultivation. He is a prominent citizen, and an active member of the Democratic party.
