C, was born May 9, 1824, and is a son of Green and Telistia Vernon. His parents removed to Shelby County, Ind., in 1831, where our subject was reared and educated. He engaged in farming in Shelby County, and was there married, February 24, 1846, to Miss Sarah Hennes, born December 12, 1828. In 1857, he removed to Hancock County, Ind., where he remained two years, and in 1859 sold his farm and removed to Tipton County. He purchased eighty acres in Section 19, in Cicero Township, which he subsequently sold, and purchased eighty acres in Section 20, which he now owns. He has about forty-five acres under cultivation, and well drained. He is a member of the Democratic party, and the Plum Grove Grange, No. 181. He and wife are members of the Christian Church. They have a family of eight children-Mary J., Sarah E., Richard B., Matilda F., Nancy E., Barbara A., Daisy D. and Alice M. His father's death occurred in Sullivan County, Ind., in March, 1871, His mother, aged seventy-eight, is still living, and resides in Sullivan County.
