He was employed by Zeigler Coal Co. as a coal miner before his retirement. Born Dec. 12, 1939, in Clinton, he was the son of William E. Boatman and Rosemary Denehie Boatman. He was a member of International Triple Nickle Radio Club - Call No. 378, Izaak Walton League and State Line Christian Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Carl Boatman. Survivors include his wife, Peggy Paddock Boatman; four daughters, Kimberly J. Beeler, Ginger L. Boatman, Deana E. Evans, all of Libertyville, and Peggy S. Rebeck of FortWayne; one brother Richard Boatman of Paris, Ill.; one sister, Ruthanne Ward of West Terre Haute; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. Services were held today at Frist Funeral Home in Clinton with Rev. Melvin McKibban officiating. Burial was in Pleasant View Cemetery." The Daily Clintonian Newspaper, dated 13 Dec 1999.
