In 1835 he came with his parents to Henry County, Ind. In 1845 he was married to Edna Ann Hiatt Jones, daughter of Henry and Margaret Jones, natives of Carolina County, Md. Then he settled in Cambridge City, Wayne County, where he lived four years, and followed cabinet-making. In 1849 he bought a farm of eighty acres near Cambridge City, where he followed agricultural pursuits till a short time ago. He has retired from the active duties of life; is now living with his wife in a neat residence in the suburbs of Cambridge City, having rented his farm. He and wife belong to the Society of Friends. To them five children have been born, one living---Caroline, wife of Archer Anderson, now living on a farm near Pendleton, Madison Co., Ind. John H. died in infancy. Alice died when four years old. Marietta, wife of Joseph Evans, died at the age of twenty-seven years, and Able S. died when about nineteen years of age.
