He was reared on a farm in his native county, and was married in 1852 to Lida G. Willits, a native of Knox County, Ohio, and a daughter of Ellis and Rachel Willits. They have five children---Rhoda E., wife of David A. Outland; Thomas E., married Sarah C. White, now living in Dakota; John E., Jennie R. and Martha A. In 1854 Mr. Miles removed with his family to Wabash County, Ind., where he followed farming till 1861, when he purchased his present farm of 105 acres, situated near Dublin, Wayne Co., Ind. In connection with his agricultural pursuits he manufactures sorghum molasses, making about 2,500 gallons per season. He and his family are members of the Society of Friends, Mrs. Miles being a minister of that denomination.
