He was married Sept. 20, 1864, to Cora B., daughter of Philip Keifer of Dayton, Ohio, and to them were born two daughters- --Lizzie M. and Ida Belle. Mr. Newby entered the Cambridge City Bank as Teller at the age of fourteen years, which position he held several years when he was Assistant Cashier, in which capacity he served till his death. He was a prominent member of the Masonic fraternity and was buried with all the honors attending the order. He was also a Knight of Pythias.
