Osborn was born in the house where he now lives, Nov. 4, 1836, the youngest son of Isaiah and Lydia (Worth) Osborn. He was reared a farmer and was educated in the schools of Perry Township. When he was nine years old, his father died, and his mother subsequently married again. He was married Dec. 12, 1867, to Mary E. Rinehart, daughter of Charles and Mary Rinehart. They have had four children---Charles A., Lydia E., Mary V. and Lloyd Garrison. Mr. Osborn has been a successful farmer, and has surrounded his family with all the comforts of life. He is an ardent worker in the temperance cause, never having used tobacco in any form, drank a glass of liquor nor tasted a drop of whisky; has not tasted coffee for more than thirty years, neither has there been a cup of it made in his house since he was married except for visitors or work hands. Milk he uses, and advocates the use of the same. He was raised a Friend or Quaker, but is a Freethinker or Materialist.
