C. His parents were married in Ohio, and in 1820 moved to Wayne County, Ind., and bought eighty acres of unimproved land. He afterward entered a tract of land in Perry Township, which he improved, living there till his death in May, 1874. His wife died in 1864. They had a family of thirteen children, but four of whom are living. Our subject remained at home till manhood. In 1856 he purchased the old homestead, where he still lives. He was married Oct. 23, 1857, to Hannah, daughter of Jonathan and Priscilla Cain. They have had four children but two of whom are living-Roy and Byron. Webster and Annie are deceased. Mr. and Mrs. Peirce are members of the Methodist Episcopal church.
