Needham Reece came with his father, John Reece, to Wayne County, Ind., in 1810. They located first near the present site of Richmond, then moved near Green's Fork, and a few years later, when Henry County was opened to white settlers, were among the first to settle in that county. His wife died in Henry County, Sept. 10, 1838. In 1849 he returned to Wayne County, where he died in 1883. John Reece came with his father to Wayne County in 1849. They settled on section 9, New Garden Township. He was married May 27, 1852, to Ann, daughter of Ezekiel and Mary (Mendenhall) Haisley. After his marriage he bought the farm where he still resides, on section 29, New Garden Township. He owns eighty acres of well-improved land. Mr. and Mrs. Reece have five children---Oliver H., William T., Mary Emma, Edwin and Elnora. They are members of the Society of Friends.
