They are now deceased. Our subject received a common-school education and on attaining his majority he engaged in farming, which he has made his principal occupation through life. He was married in 1847, in Butler County, Ohio, to Eliza Ann Stewart. They had fourteen children of whom eleven survive, four of them being married. After his marriage Mr. Rothermel rented a farm, residing on it four years, after which he bought a farm where he lived till the spring of 1857. He then moved his family to Wayne County, Ind., living in Washington Township four years, and in 1861 moved to his present farm of 145 acres of land. Mrs. Rothermel died in 1879 and Mr. Rothermel was again married in 1882, to Cerena Bloom, of Buffalo County, Ohio. Mr. Rothermel belongs to the Lutheran church at East Germantown, of which he is a Trustee. His wife is a member of 1he Methodist Episcopal church.
