Rudolph Shoff was born near Lancaster County, Pa., Nov. 27, 1808. He remained 
on the home farm till he was twenty years of age, when he started out in life 
for himself. He was married in 1833 to Christiana Stauffer, of Lancaster 
County, Pa., by whom he had twelve children---Susan, Mary, Henry, Barbara, 
Rudolph, Lizzie, Uri, Christian, Emma, Catherine, Rebecca and Jacob, all 
living and married. In the spring of 1851 Mr. Shoff moved with his family to 
Wayne County, Ind., where he purchased a farm of 289 acres south of East 
Germantown. He commenced life a poor boy, but by his industry and economy has 
accumulated property, at present owning 500 acres of fine land. He has 
followed farming and stock-raising through life. He and wife have been members 
of the Brethren church for many years.
