Shoff, physician and surgeon, was born Aug. 8, 1856, in Wayne County, and is the youngest of twelve children, five boys and seven girls, of Rudolph and Christiana Shoff. He spent his youth on a farm, receiving his primary education at the public schools. In 1876 commenced to teach school, and taught two terms, after which he attended the Central Normal College at Danville, Ind., and completed the scientific course of studies. He then commenced the study of medicine, and attended the Medical College of Ohio, at Cincinnati, where he graduated in March, 1881. During the winter of 1881-'82 he attended the Bellevue Hospital Medical College, of New York City, graduating from that institution in March, 1882. He immediately located at East Germantown, Ind., where he has since practiced his profession. In February, 1883, he purchased the drug store of W. D. Mauk, which he carries on in connection with his practice. Was married in May, 1882, to Lottie Kaderly, of Dennison, Ohio. They have one son---Ard K. The Doctor is a member of the Masonic fraternity.
