Miles J. Stirewalt, pastor of the Evangelical Lutheran church of East Germantown, was born May 8, 1835, in Roan County, N.C., where he remained till attaining his majority. He was educated at Catawba College, of North Carolina, and afterward attended Emory and Henry colleges, of Virginia. In the fall of 1858 he entered the ministry, and the following fall took charge of his first church, in Randolph County, N. C. In 1866 he, in company with his father's family, came to Marion County, Ind., where he had charge of churches three years. In 1869 he took charge of the church in East Germantown, Wayne Co., Ind., remaining there three years, when he returned to Marion County, where he was pastor seven years. He then spent three years as a missionary in Kansas, when he was appointed to his present charge. He was married, in 1858, to Camilla E., daughter of David Smith.
