When twenty-three years of age he came to the United States, landed at Baltimore, and from there went to Cincinnati, Ohio. He afterward came to Indiana, stopping first at Richmond, but subsequently located at Cambridge City, where he worked at the wagon- maker's trade till 1856. He then bought a farm two miles north of Cambridge City, where he still resides. He has been a resident of the county forty-eight years.
