Thornburgh, youngest son of Elvin and Damaris (Locke) Thornburgh, was born April 24, 1855, in Perry Township, Wayne County, Ind. He was educated at the common schools and reared on the home farm till he grew to manhood. He engaged in farming for himself when eighteen years of age, which he successfully followed till 1877. He has since been trading in stock, real estate and loaning money, in which he is meeting with much success. He was married Jan. 3, 1875, to Jennie E. Cook, born Dec. 14, 1857, and daughter of Joseph and Mary (Swain) Cook, of Perry Township. They are the parents of two children---Harry E. and Damaris May (twins), born Aug. 7, 1878.
