Clark wife of Silas Clark and daughter of Thomas and Maria Francis, died at the Clark home south of Milton, last Friday evening, after a long and painful sickness. She was born in Centerville, Nov. 16 1868, and passed away only a few days prior to her 49th birthday. She was twice married - first to Harry Alexander to whom she had a daughter Helen, wife of Curtis Hester, and who now lives in Indianapolis. She lived some years in Chicago and returned here to the home of her mother, nine years ago she married Mr. Clark, who was to her a husband in all that the word implies - in sickness and I health he was the same devoted companion. Of her father's family she is survived by her mother who was with her much during her declining days, two sisters and four brothers. She was a splendid woman who enjoyed the confidence of many friends, and her departure in the very zenith of her usefulness is a loss to all who ever knew her. Funeral services were held at Valley Grove chapel Sunday afternoon by Rev. L. E. Brown who gave a beautiful sermon from the text, "After this I looked and behold a door was opened in heaven." The music by Harry and Ernest Doty, J. A. Brown, Mesdames Harry Doty, R. W. Warren, Ed. Wilson, J. A. Brown, and Vene Beeson, the songs being "Lead Kindly Light, and "Safe in the Arms of Jesus," Miss Nellie Jones presided at the organ. Harry Doty gave a solo, "There will be no tears in paradise." A very touching feature of the music was the solo, "In the Sweet Bye and Bye" by the daughter Mrs. Curtis Hester of Indianapolis, the congregation joining in the chorus. There were many beautiful flowers. Burial in that cemetery. Pall bearers, Thomas, Chas, and Will Francis, C. S. Hester, Frank Clark, and W.E. Jones.
