South Whitley, Whitley County, IN 11/1885 - Addie TRESSLER PLETCHER, died Nov 20, 1885, age 27 yrs.,5 mo., 7 days. Born May 13, 1858; d/o Peter & Eliza TRESSLER. Married Henry PLETCHER. The funeral services was conducted by Rev. Hill at the Baptist church, burial was in the Collamer Cemetery. The sorrow of the sisters that the once happy family circle was broken, by chilly winds of November. The father, whom the infirmities of age have crept upon and who has lived out the time allotted to man, doubtless thought of old Barvara and childhood. The nurse held her baby son (Clayton A) 10/07/1920 - ASHES OF ELI PLETCHER ARE SENT TO PIERCETON - The remains of Eli PLETCHER have been sent to Pierceton from which place they will be buried. Eli PLETCHER was born near Columbia City in 1840, spending most of his life in Whitley Co. When the Civil War broke out, Mr. PLETCHER enlisted in the army, where he served for three years. After the war he worked as mason, also as school teacher. He also did some farming. Mr. PLETCHER moved with his family to Pasadena, Calif. about 16 years ago. He also had a place in Los Angeles. He had suffered much from rheumatism and in his last illness he not only suffered from rheumatism but also from tubercular pneumonia from which he never recovered, passing away at the age of 80 years. The remains were cremated in Los Angeles and the ashes sent to Pierceton in care of W. H. PLETCHER. Interment will take place in the cemetery near Eli PLETCHER's old home. Those who knew Mr. PLETCHER knew him to be a very fine neighbor and one who was always optimistic. The sympathy of all goes out to those whom he has left. Columbia City Post 10/24/1906 - GUY, Mrs. Frank - Mary PLETCHER was born 22 Dec 1842 in Ohio; died 20 Oct. 1906 at her home west of Larwill, Ind. Death followed fracture of a hip when she fell through a culvert in Pierceton, Ind. Her parents, Mr John and Elizabeth PLETCHER located in Richland Tp., Whitely Co., Ind. when she was 7 years old. She married 18 Sep 1862 and had no children of her own. They adopted Anna MOSHER who married Jacob PLETCHER and now lives in Kalispel, Mont. Her husband survives her, also three sisters and three brothers: Eli PLETCHER of Pasadena, Calif.; Joseph in Pierceton, Ind.; Henry in South Whitley, Ind.; Mrs. Catherine SNYDER, Columbia City, Ind.; Mrs. Martha BEARD, Larwill, Ind. and Mrs. Barbara FISHER in Nebraska. The Rev. S. B. Stookey conducted the funeral service; burial was near Larwill. 10/21/1910 (Col City Commercial Mail) - John A BETZNER, aged 54 years 2 mo and 7 days, died Saturday 11:35 p.m. at home four miles SW of Columbia City. Born in Whitley Co 8 Aug 1856 to Owen and Catherine (PLETCHER) BETZNER. His father died 1872 and mother married John SNYDER. On 14 Oct 1877 married Harriet ESSIG. Eight of their 11 children are living: Mrs Wm PARRISH of Richland Tp Whitley Co; Mrs Ira MEADOWS of Cleveland Tp Whitley Co; Fred, Anna, Maze, Mildred, Maude and Gertrude at home. A brother William BETZNER lives in Thorncreek Tp Whitely Co; a sister Mrs Eli BOLINGER in Columbia City and brother Frank T BETZNER in Billings Mont.
