W. J. Brown, aged 51 years. The deceased was universally respected by all who knew him, and his loss will be severely felt in this County. He has been an honored member of Iola Lodge No 33, A. F. and A. M., for a number of years. At a special communication of Iola Lodge, No. 38 A.F. & A. M., called for the purpose of attending the funeral of Brother A. W. J. Brown, a committee was appointed to draft resolutions, who reported the following preamble and resolutions, which were unanimously adopted: WHEREAS. It has pleased the Supreme Architect of the Universe to summon from his labors, our beloved Brother A. W. J. Brown, calling him by his Omnipotent will, to that judgement which awaits all who are toiling in this earthly temple; and WHEREAS, The Masonic ties that have so long bound as in mutual friendship and enjoyment to our departed friend, are severed, no more to be re-united until the day when the grave shall yield up its dead; therefore Resolved, That we sincerely mourn this disruption of covenanted friendship, bearing in tender remembrance his ever-willing help in charity, his fidelity to Masonry, and his devotion to the principles it inculeates. Resolved, That we earnestly sympathize with the relatives and friends of our deceased Brother, and tender them that consolation which the world can neither give nor take away; and that we will wear the usual badge of mourning for the space of thirty days. Resolved, That a copy of this preamble and resolutions be forwarded to the famiy of our deceased Brother, and inserted in the Neosho Valley Register and Humboldt Union. A. G.
