He had many close friends here. He has been in ill health for some time and has been required to absent himself from his business much of the time. His intimate friends knew of the precarious condition of his health, yet, were unprepared for the news that was given out last Monday afternoon. When his health forced him to retire from active business, some months ago, the responsibilities of his affairs fell upon the shoulders of his son Lloyd Neff Brown. He is survived by his wife, by an only sister, Mrs. Pritchard, of Cincinnati, Ohio; his son, Lloyd, of Iola, the well known pianist, and a daughter, Mrs. Ella Berdenkircher, of Vinita, Okla. Dr. Brown was born in Burlington, Ia., in 1851 and moved to Earlton, Kans., in 1879. From Earlton he came to Humboldt where he became a very successful physician and honored citizen and twenty-two year ago he moved to Iola and entered the drug business. The funeral services were held at the family residence, 322 South Washington avenue yesterday afternoon at 3:30 with the Rev. H.G. Mathis, D.D., pastor of the First Presbyterian church, officiating.
