GARNETT JOURNAL, (Garnett, Kansas), Saturday, January 24, 1884, p. 3
"DIED. At her home in Putnam township, Jan. 18 of Pleura Pneumonia Mrs. M. J. 
Taylor in the 39th year of her age. Deceased was a native of Wayne county, 
Indiana removed thence to Wisconsin where she married her lately bereaved 
husband Joshua Taylor. They removed to Kansas in 1867, and have been residing 
in Putnam township ever since. She leaves five children and a kind husband to 
mourn her loss."
