Funeral services for Sam E Elder former Atchison implement dealer who died at 
Christ's hospital in Topeka Monday, will be held at St Benedict's church 
Thursday morning at 10 o'clock and burial will be in Mt. Calvary cemetery.  The 
rosary will be recited at the Harouff & Buis service chapel Wednesday evening 
at 8 o'clock.
Samuel Ernest Elder was born at Sedaha Mo, March 10, 1877 and grew to manhood 
there.  For many years he traveled for the J L Case Implement Co. and for 
Russell & Co. of St. Joe.  For about 10 years he was in the implement business 
on North Eighth street in Atchison and six years ago moved to Topeka where he 
was employed by the Wilson Tractor and Implement Co.
In April 1908, he married Miss Eva Walters of Atchison who passed away April 
16, 1940.  Surviving are a son Cpl. Robert Elder who is stationed at Salt Lake 
City with the personnel distribution department of the army air forces; his 
father who is 104 years of age and lives at Harwood Mo, a sister, Mrs Minnie 
Sheldon, Riverside Calif, a brother, Herman Elder, Harwood Mo, and a sister, 
Mary Elder, Jefferson City Mo.
Cpl and Mrs Robert Elder are here from Salt Lake City having been called to 
Topeka when Mr Elder became critically ill.  Mrs. Robert Elder is employed as a 
civilian at the Salt Lake City air field where her husband is stationed.  Mrs 
Harry Sharp of Topeka a sister of the late Mrs. S E Elder, and her son LeRoy 
Sharp of Centralia Ill, arrived this morning.  LeRoy Sharp is with the Shell 
Oil Co at Centralia.
