The members of Sheriff Spangler's staff have been for some time engaged in looking up a Kansas murderer, for whose apprehension $700 reward has been offered by the state. The murder was committed at Medicine Lodge, Barbour county, Kansas, during the latter part of the year 1879, and is pronounced to be one of the most brutal and cold blooded affairs known to that section. After obtaining a full description of the murder from the authorities at Medicine Lodge, the Sheriff detailed Deputy Sheriff Bily Wise to look up the case. The killing originated out of a dispute between Henry Bradford and T. W. McClure over the title to some land that was claimed by both parties. The quarrel was renewed the following day, when Bradford left the room, declaring he would get even. On the evening of the on which the last fuss between the men took place, Bradford hid behind the corner of the post office building, and as McClure was leaving the office with his mail, shot him down and made his escape to Colorado, where he is supposed to have been ever since. Deputy Wise, after obtaining a clue to the whereabouts of Bradford, proceeded to Alpine, where he found Bradford working under an assumed name. The following telegram was reeived by Sheriff Spangler yesterday: Buena Vista, May 3. "On way home with Bradford." Wise. Bradford is about 38 years old, and will probably arrive here to-day, where he will be confined until the officers from Medicine Lodge arrive to conduct him to Kansas.
