Obituary of HILLIARD, Dr. John D. Barber County, KS 1961 Barber County Index, Medicine Lodge, Barber County, Kansas, January 26, 1961, Front Page Dr. John D. Hilliard Dies at K.C. Med Center Dr. John D. Hilliard, 43, died at 10:45 Sunday (January 22, 1961) at the Kansas University Medical Center, Kansas City, following a short illness. Dr. Hilliard was seriously ill at the time he entered the Medical Center, January 18. Cause of death was described as a heart failure. Services have been set for 2 p.m. today at the Forsyth Funeral Home, with the Rev. Bernard Groome officiating. Interment will be in the Attica Cemetery, Attica. Dr. Hilliard was born June 28, 1917 in Freeport, Kansas. He graduated from Attica high school, after which he entered Kemper Military Academy in Booneville, Mo. He graduated from Kansas University School of Medicine in 1942. He served in the U. S. Army from 1944 until 1946. He began his practice in Medicine Lodge in November of 1951. He was a member of the Tri-County Medical Association, the Kansas State Medical Association, the American (Medical) Association, was president of National Cerebral Palsey of Kansas, and a Fellow of American Academics of General Practioners. Survivors include his wife, Jane; four daughters, Nancy, Mary Jo, Patricia and Barbara of the home; a brother, Carlos Lee Hilliard of Wichita. He was preceded in death by a son, John D. Hilliard, Jr., in August of 1960. Several business have indicated they will be closed this afternoon during the funeral services. Contributed: by Barbara Hilliard, daughter of Dr. John D.
