Barber County Index  (Medicine Lodge, KS) Wed Jul 06, 1898 pg 3

   We were surprised and grieved to learn of the
death of Dr. T. W. Davis, postmaster at Sharon,
which occurred last Friday. The death was very 
sudden and was caused by congestion of the bowels.
He was taken sick early on Friday morning and at
4 o'clock in the afternoon died. Mr. Davis was
an old settler in Barber county and highly
respected by those who knew him. He was interred
in the Sharon cemetery on Saturday afternoon.

   A letter from Rev. C. B. Sherk, of Sharon, gives
the following in regard to Dr. T. W. Davis.
"Thos. W. Davis, M. D., was born in Fairmount, Grant
county, Ind., Dec 15, 1831, and died in Sharon,
Barber county, Kans., July 1, 1898, aged 67 years,
6 months and 16 days. He was married to Henrietta
Izzard April 21, 1857. Removed from Indiana to
Osage Mission in 1869, and has since lived in the
state at different places."
