He belonged to United Methodist Church, Cosmos Lodge AF & AM, Scottish Rites, Wichita Valley, Barber County Firewagons, Midian Shrine and American Legion Post No. 175. He was a member of the Barber County Cattleman's Association, Kansas Livestock Association, and was past president of OK Coop. He served in the U.S. Marines during World War II, stationed in Panama for three years, and in Washington D.C. and was in the Korean War. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Wayne.
