b. Lawrence KS Douglas Co, d. Great Bend KS Barton co, Carpenter Law Office
attorney. S/O Miller Joseph and Anna Belle Smith Carpenter. He graduated from 
Lawrence High School, Lawrence, KS, 1952; University of Kansas, Bachelor of
Arts, 1959; and University of Kansas School of Law, 1962. He was a resident of
Great Bend for 40 years coming from Lawrence, KS. He was a member of Trinity
Lutheran Church, Lawrence, KS and belonged to the KU Alumni Association, Barton
County Bar Association, Kansas Bar Association, Kansas Trial  Lawyers
Association, American Bar Association, American Trial Lawyers Association,
International Printing Pressman and Assistants Union of North America and past
president of Barton County Bar  Association. He was the former Special
Administrative Law Judge, Division of Worker's Compensation and former Political
Science Instructor for the University of Kansas. He served in the  Naval Reserve
from 1951-1955. Preceded in death by sister, Millie Potter.
