b. Pawnee Rock KS Barton co, d. Larned ks Pawnee co, D/O Harrison M. and R.
Grace Unruh Schmitt. She was a 1941 graduate of Pawnee Rock High School, and she
also graduated from the Colorado Women's College and Emporia State Teacher's
College. She was a homemaker and taught English, speech and history in the Dodge
City school system and substituted at Pawnee Rock. She belonged to New Jerusalem
Church, Pawnee Rock; Church Ladies Auxiliary; Larned Rotary; Larned Garden Club;
20th Century Study Club; CKMC/St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliary; American Legion
Auxiliary; CKMC Foundation; Fort Larned Historical Society; KSU Endowment
Foundation; Golden Belt Community Foundation; Golden Belt Chapter of the
American Red Cross; Sunflower Training Center Board, Great Bend; HoNePaw
"Cowbelles"; and the Wichita Music Theater. She was preceded in death by a
brother, Willard Schmitt.
