Don's great-grandfather was Isaac Joel Curtis, born January 29, 1840 and died
August 23, 1885.  He was a Civil War veteran.
 
As you can see, his tombstone reads "I J Curtis, CO. B, 52nd ILL. INF."  That is
the first enlistment from Illinois.  His second enlistment was from Missouri. 
But he died near Fulton.  I'm sending a picture of the cemetery entrance, one of
I J Curtis' tombstone, and one of the military section of the cemetery.  It was
just before Memorial Day so the flags were out.


Additional Comments:
Many of the military stones read "US Soldier".  

The cemetery is Barnesville Cemetery, Bourbon County, Kansas.
