The Hiawatha Dispatch, Hiawatha, KS, March 14, 1878
John Smith of Padonia Township, who was reported ill in these columns 
recently, died on last Sunday afternoon and was buried at Padonia on Monday.  
Mr. Smith made a will before his death, in which he bequeathed 80 acres of 
land to his deaf and dumb brother, and to his wife (the 4th) 40 acres of land, 
with house, team of horses, etc.  The balance of the estate to go to his 
children, fifteen or sixteen in number.

Additional Comments:
NOTE:  His name should read 'Schmitt' rather than Smith.
