Mr. Schmitt had been sick for sometime, the precise nature of his disease unknown to us. He was a man whose private and public life was without a blemish. His word was as good as his note, in other words Mr. Schmitt was an honest man, respected by all who knew him. By a life of honest toil and frugality he accumulated a fine property. He leaves a wife and grown up children to mourn his loss. The funeral was held at the Old Fairview church on Tuesday and his remains were buried there. The funeral was attended by a large number of old friends and acquantances who were present to pay the last sad rites to their neighbor, friend and an honest man.
